¡Hola Visitante!

Muchas gracias por pasar por mi blog, espero que lo encuentres interesante y te animes a compartir tus comentarios sobre mis publicaciones. ¿Qué vas a encontrar aquí? … una revisión y comentarios sobre los libros que leo, algunos son lectura «obligatoria» del Colegio y el resto son libros que por alguna razón me han llamado la atención.

Mi madre cree que soy una devoradora de libros y, es que no lo puedo evitar, la lectura es algo que me apasiona, y cuando hay un libro que me engancha, no puedo parar de leer, me lo llevo en el coche, lo leo antes de dormir, tengo una curiosidad que no me deja parar… luego, claro, llega el final, y entonces llega el momento de buscar un nuevo libro; Soy también muy curiosa y hace unos meses quería aprender a «escribir» en Internet, así que alguien me sugirió que una manera de aprenderlo sería escribiendo este blog.

La verdad es que he aprendido mucho para llegar a este punto:

  1. He tenido que leer sobre esto de WordPress, afortunadamente, he tenido que hacer muy poco con ello.
  2. También por lo visto había que diseñar un logo y este es el resultado:

A mi me gusta el resultado, espero que a vosotros también.

Tengo muchas ganas de empezar, espero que se me de bien compartir con vosotros lo que más he disfrutado de los libros que han pasado por las estanterías de mi habitación.

Good Girl, Bad Blood

Spoilers A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder!!

After solving the case, Pip decides to stop being a detective. This is because of the danger her family was subject to during her last one. However, she does start a true crime podcast, in which she talks about the case and everything that happened. The podcast then becomes very famous, and people incite her to make a season two, meaning she would have to investigate again. Regardless of everyone asking for a new season, Pip had made a promise not to start a new investigation, which she kept, at least for as long as she could.

After Jamie, Connor’s brother, goes missing, he asks Pip to look for him, especially because the police isn’t doing anything about it. To try and avoid breaking her promise, Pip goes to the police station to try and convince them to work harder on the case, but she has no luck. Because of this, Pip is forced to take this investigation, leading her into another case left for solving.

I think it’s very common for the first book of a series to be more interesting. To be honest, I thought this would be the case with this, and, while it is true that sometimes I didn’t find it as interesting, most of the time the book was still very good. I strongly recommend reading this book, especially if you liked the first book of the series. I think it is really important to see how the author managed to keep the story connected withoutmaking it seem to forced, which isn’t always the case.

The Way I Am Now

SPOILERS “THE WAY I USED TO BE”!!

After Eden is finally able to share with people the secret she had been keeping for so many years, everything goes back to normal. For everyone, except for Eden herself. Now that Kevin is about to meet his fate, Eden tries to go back to a normal life, something closer to what she had previous to everything. However, there is still some things she will never be able to go back to. She starts doing school from home, and, while it is meant to be temporary, she doesn’t feel able to go back. She is also dating Steve, who, while he might not be Josh, everyone around her seems to consider that he is a good choice, even if it’s not exactly who she wants. Nevertheless, she does what everyone believes and dates Steve, even if, in practice, they’re not that good of a match.
During a concert that she was attending with her friends, Eden starts feeling overwhelmed and goes outside. Out of luck, she meets Josh there, and, although they haven’t talked since the call which brought Josh all the way back, they reconnect instantly and everything feels right. However, this doesn’t last long, as Steve comes out once it’s done and gets mad about it.
Once they each go their separate ways, Eden is starting to realise really how unhappy she is with Steve, and, even though everyone believes that being with him is supposed to make her feel better about everything that happened, it isn’t actually helping. She realizes that Josh understands her better, which is why, this time, instead of going no contact with him, she keeps texting him. However, they aren’t as honest as the other conversation they had, just rather superficial.

Some months later, Eden starts at the same college Josh goes to, which ends up with them living in the same building since Josh helped her find a roommate. Because of this, they get to see each other much more, which eventually leads to them reconnecting. However, since the trial regarding Kevin’s case is still going, it will be quite hard for them to go back to the way they were.

I honestly was really excited to read this book, mostly because in the first book I felt like we hadn’t got much of what Josh’s character is and how he impacts Eden, as the first book was rather focused on the Eden’s story. However, I liked the first book better, even though I thought that it would be the other way around. Both books are really good, but I just personally like the first one better since I found the message more important and I liked how it wasn’t focused on a romance, but it was rather put on as a side story. I would still recommend for you to read this book if you’ve read the first one, since it still adds on to the story.

The Way I Used To Be

Edy was fourteen when she changed herself completely. And, although it was at the same time as she entered highschool, that was not the reason for her to change. She entered it in a very innocent way, you could say, she was still very happy. Although she wasn’t everything she wanted to, she had people around she could trust, and she did. However, after someone she looked up to, admired, or even love, betrayed her trust, all that changed.

The morning after the assault, Edy is really scared. She doesn’t know how to act, can’t really believed anything happened at all. However, it did, and she had to share it with someone.
When she did try to, though, she found that, maybe, he was right. Something he had told her, and had stuck with her, made her scared to tell anyone. No one would believe her.
And this is how Eden becomes a completely different person, someone who is just trying to forget everything and find herself again. This leads her to do many different things, which all end up making it worse for her, thus completely erasing the girl she used to be.

Personally, I started reading the book expecting something, not really sure what, but at first it wasn’t at all what I expected. I already knew the topics it would be covering, but I didn’t know the approach the book took, which is why, in the beginning, I didn’t really get too much into the book, and didn’t really like it. However, once I started to understand better the perspective Amber Smith was trying to show, I actually really liked the book. I was really excited to read this book, as it covers a topic that, personally, I find extremely important to acknowledge. Assault is something that I believe can absolutely ruin a person, and, while I am not talking out of experience, I do believe that she manages to portray it perfectly, rather than making it seem as a «small» violation against someone. It shows how it can change a person completely, regardless of how long it happens for. Even if it’s for a minute, the person’s life can be completely ruined. This is why I think assault is something very important to discuss and stop, and I believe that «The Way I Used To Be» managed to really show the effects of it.

A good girl’s guide to murder

Five years after the disappearance of Andie Bell, Pippa decides to choose the case for her school project. Convinced that Sal Singh, the guy blamed for her murder, is in fact not guilty, she goes around trying to prove him innocent. However, as she and Ravi Singh, Sal’s brother, go around trying to find out what happened, she notices that, while there is a lot of evidence pointing towards Sal, all that seems way to obvious to be true. Also, she increases her suspect list so much to the point that it was no longer just for a school project, but to finally find out the truth once and for all.

I actually wasn’t so into the book when I first started reading it, but it started to grow on me as I kept reading. I honestly think it is a really good book, as the story is quite intriguing and well written.

Parable of the Sower

Lauren Olamina is a fifteen-year-old in a dystopian America of 2024. Climate change and inequality play a big role in this world. There is very clear class segregation, making life miserable for the increasing number of people which can´t afford basic life neccesities. That, and the constant natural disasters and contamination, make life very hard in America. Lauren is quite lucky though, as she was born inside a gated community which separated her from that world. However, as she suffered from hyperempathy (a disease which allows her to feel the same as others), it is quite harmful for her when she needs to leave the community.

After her community burns down, she and the other survivors leave with the intention of finding a better life North. While it is quite hard to survive in a world where caos and violence rule, they decide that as long as they trust and help each other, they will be able to survive. The group works their way up North while recruiting others who can join them.

I didn´t think I was going to like this book as it started in quite a boring way. However, in the end, it turned out to be quite engaging.

Quantic Love

Laila se va a Suiza el verano antes de la uni. Allí trabajará de camarera en el restaurante del centro de investigación CERN, y, aunque no sea su trabajo ideal, lo acepta ya que le interesa mucho la ciencia y lo ve como una oportunidad para aprender y conocer otra gente a la que también le apasione. Al llegar, conoce a Angie, su compañera de cuarto, con la que hace amistad al instante. Es una summer student, como mucha de la gente allí.

Su primera mañana en el restaurante es estresante ya que, a pesar de que dijo tener experiencia con restaurantes y cafeterías, Laila no sabía ni preparar un café. Un periodista llamado Alessio le ayuda, y Laila pronto se da cuenta de que está interesado en ella. Luego conoce a un guía del CERN llamado Brian. Lo ve como una oportunidad para aprender más, así que, cuando se ofrece a darle clases de guía, Laila acepta encantada. La quedada acaba coincidiendo con una cita que le pidió Alessio, pero ella la rechaza, convencida de que le gusta a Brian y que la clase iba a ser una cita. Durante la clase se da cuenta que estaba equivocada, lo que la lleva a pensar que a lo mejor debería elegir a Alessio y olvidarse de Brian.

A mí este libro no me ha gustado mucho, la verdad. La historia me parecía muy predecible y no te engancha nada. Muchas veces me forzaba a leerlo más que hacerlo por diversión. Me ha decepcionado ya que lo había cogido porque lo había escrito la misma persona que una trilogía que me gustó, pero la verdad el libro deja mucho que esperar.

¡Feliz año nuevo!

Sí, lo sé. Hace mucho que no escribo nada. Últimamente, no he leído mucho, que digamos. Como hoy no tengo ningún libro del que hablar, voy a hablaros un poco sobre mi vida en este tiempo que he estado fuera.

Para empezar, estoy otro año en Noruega. Y este año el colegio está siendo mucho más interesante. Este año, como estoy en segundo de la ESO (creo que primero para ellos, pero tienen otro nombre), ya empezamos con idiomas. Se podía elegir entre francés, alemán, y español. Antes de que preguntéis, no me dejaron español. Como no se pudo, pues elegí francés. Y bueno, no está tan mal. Si no fuese porque las clases están en noruego. … A ver, que no pasa nada, que antes ya había dado francés, y por ahora me está yendo bien. Pero la verdad, estoy segura de que el que se sienta a mi lado se me va a acabar hartando. El noruego no se me está dando tan mal (ignorando gramática, ortografía, pronunciación…). Pero bueno, poco a poco.

En las otras clases estamos haciendo cosas bastante divertidas. Por ejemplo, para Diseño y para Inglés, hemos hecho una obra de teatro. Bueno, «hecho» tampoco. ¿Alguien conoce «Sueño de una noche de verano»? Pues la hemos interpretado. Y la verdad ha sido bastante divertido. Después del covid, nos perdimos dos festivales en sexto(los hicimos pero no era lo mismo así que yo no los cuento). Gracias a eso, este trabajo me hacía mucha ilusión, ya que también íbamos a poder crear lo que se necesita para la obra( al contrario de mi otro cole, que solo actuábamos y bailábamos). A mí me tocó el atrezzo (creo que es así, en inglés es props). Luego, en lo de actuar, me tocó los chicos estos que van a hacer una obra. Él mío era el del léon.

Otra cosa que hemos hecho en clase que me ha gustado mucho ha sido ciencias forenses. Es básicamente cosas como los tipos de sangre, como conseguir las huellas y reconocerlas, y otras cosas necesarias para criminología. Aunque todavía no nos han examinado, el tema se me ha hecho bastante interesante, por lo que quería compartirlo.

10 cosas que hicimos

( Y que probablemente no deberíamos haber hecho)

Cuando los el padre de Astrid decide que se mudarían a Cleveland con su mujer, Astrid se niega, ya que es mitad de año y no quiere empezar en otro instituto. Después de muchos esfuerzos, Astrid convence a su padre de que la deje quedarse con una amiga y su madre. Después de unos mensajes «entre ellos» por email, su padre deja que Astrid se quede lo que queda de año con Vi. Sin embargo, él no sabía un pequeño detalle. La madre de Vi se iba a ir de gira por su carrera. Por lo tanto, solo iban a quedar ellas dos en la casa. Pero bueno, ¿ qué es lo peor que podría pasar? Vi y Astrid tendrán que cuidar de la casa y esconder el hecho de que están solas, mientras también tienen que mantener sus notas. Y, por supuesto, no pueden faltar las fiestas teniendo casa sola.

Este libro me llamó mucho la atención ya que el principio ya empezaba dejándome confundida. La considero una buena historia para unos trece años y para arriba, ya que es más un romance y algunas partes pueden no ser apropiadas para niños menores de eso. Pero si estos tipos de libros te interesan, debo decir que tiene una buena trama y es muy divertido de leer.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck

After Rowley finds a girlfriend, he has no time to play with Greg, and he doesn’t like it. Desperate for a new friend to protect him from things like dog poop or getting tired taking his backpack to school, Greg, tries to befriend Freglie, but it’s going to be a hard job.

When decisions become more difficult, Greg finds a ball that can help him make decisions without thinking to much about it, but it’s going to get him more in problems that helping him. Who knows? Maybe something will turn and will start having good luck again.

I think this book was very entretaining, it wasn’t as long as the books I usually read, but it is a really large collection, so that’s not a big problem.

¡Ya casi es Navidad!

Dentro de ya nada va a ser Nochebuena, y pensé que sería divertido hablaros un poco sobre la Navidad en Noruega, y tal vez un poco sobre mis planes aquí en estas vacaciones.

Para empezar, no vienen los reyes magos, pero, a pesar de eso, nosotros vamos a celebrarlo igual. La verdad es que esto ya me lo esperaba, ya que es más común en los países de habla hispana, y no creía que aquí lo fuesen a celebrar tanto como en España, pero aún así creo que es un dato importante que puedo dar.

Una cosa que sí me ha sorprendido es que no venden latas con uvas preparadas para año nuevo y, puede ser que solo no las haya visto, pero me sorprendí mucho. Después de investigar, descubrí que la tradición noruega de año nuevo consiste en preparar un postre de arroz con leche, meterle una almendra, y a quien le toque la almendra tendrá buena fortuna y prosperidad económica en el nuevo año. No sé a vosotros, pero esto a mí me recuerda mucho al roscón de reyes. Aunque me parece que sería muy divertido de hacer, yo voy a seguir con mi tradición de las uvas. A continuación os diré algunas palabras noruegas para Navidad que nos enseñaron en clase de noruego.
